Off Da Rock Bahamas began in 2015 as Off Da Rock Ladies Fishing Weekend in New Providence. Alex, our fearless captain, wanted to find women to fish with—women who, like her, had never fished, but were determined to try. Women who do not let naysayers get in their way. She not only found women with the same passion for learning and taking up a challenge, she also made friends who have participated each year since.
The weekend was a three-day event where we encouraged women to learn to fish without judgement or ridicule. It consisted of a social meet and greet, a hands-on learning day, and a fishing day to put everything into practice. Throughout the weekend, participants discussed conservation and the economics of fishing, all while competing to see who would catch the biggest!
Fishing, Crab Catching & Much More
In 2019, our three day weekend, became the ultimate getaway in North Andros with 14 women participating. In addition to fishing, participants also received a crab catching lesson and went for a night out to hunt and catch crabs.
They visited straw works and plaiting vendors. They even picked local fruit during a driving tour. The event was so successful that it became the blueprint for our current all-inclusive fishing and travel packages.
